From the Minis of the Italian Job to Back To The Future's time-travelling DeLorean, the list of famous movie motors is virtually endless.
But which cars have made the most appearances on the big screen?
Research from car insurance specialists, GoCompare, has tallied up every Hollywood performance on four wheels to find out which model has seen the most time in front of the camera.
And coming in at first place was the world-renowned Ford Mustang, having featured in a mammoth 809 films.
Some of the model's most iconic roles include Gone in 60 Seconds, Death Race and the Steve McQueen classic, Bullitt.
Top 10 movie cars based on total number of appearances
Ford dominated the list for the most appearances by make, with a total of 8,988 cinema stars - 3,475 more than the next brand in line, Chevrolet.
The American manufacturer's basic Crown Victoria sedan was the second most common movie car, with 755 appearances, while the Chevrolet Impala came in third with 510.
Not surprisingly, US-based brands made up the majority of the most commonly seen vehicles, with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Volkswagen Golf and Toyota Land Cruiser the only foreign additions.
Just two British brands made the top 20 list, with Jaguar and Land Rover both featuring in 1,031 films each.
The Jaguar E-Type was the most popular model from the luxury car maker with 100 movies, while the Land Rover Discovery was seen in 119 different film titles.
But unfortunately, no UK-built models made it into the top 10.
